Frozen Banshee vs. Occult Brawler
When you’re looking for a Clan Boss poisoner, there are many options but only a few stand-outs, particularly when excluding Legendary Champions. Two of those stand-outs are Frozen Banshee and Occult Brawler. If you have one or the other built out as your primary poisoner, you may be wondering whether to switch to the other.

Several great content creators have done videos to help you make a decision (see below). Here’s a summary:
- If you are not using a Counterattack team, it’s very highly likely that Occult Brawler will be the better pick, as Frozen Banshee’s reliance on counterattack to maximize poisons is very high.
- If you are using a Counterattack team for Clan Boss, there are other variables to take into account. The biggest issue with Frozen Banshee is your ability to have Poison Sensitivity on in order to apply poisons By default she sets Poison Sensitivity for 2 turns, which may cause her to occasionally attack with her A1 when the CB does have Poison Sensitivity on, in which case Poison won’t be applied. If you have a debuff extender (e.g. Vizier) then Frozen Banshee will likely be your best bet.
A couple more points you may want to consider:
- Occult Brawler’s A3 (his passive) will trigger even if he is stunned (as of a recent patch). This is important to factor in for his damage output, because he doesn’t completely lose a turn when stunned.
- On auto, Occult Brawler annoyingly uses his A2 (Curse Eater) at useless times. In manual you can wait till he has 5 debuffs on him to use the A2, and get an Extra Turn in exchange giving you the ability to proc the A3 twice in a row. But the AI never does this, wasting the A2 and, moreover, wasting a chance to proc another Poison from the A1.
- On auto, Frozen Banshee won’t use her A2 (Cruel Exultation) which is a good thing. Her A2 risks messing up speed tuning for those who do that, and it also doesn’t apply Poison.
- From a stat perspective, Frozen Banshee has considerably higher DEF (1002 vs 826) while Occult Brawler has considerably higher HP (20640 vs 14700). Typically DEF is your best bet for CB survivability, so Frozen Banshee has a slight edge there.
Another factor you may want to take into account is the ease to max out each Champion. If you have both, and neither is built yet, consider this:
- Occult Brawler requires 9 Epic Books to max skills, and 20 Greater Spirit Potions, 15 Greater Arcane Potions, 6 Superior Spirit Potions, and 3 Superior Arcane Potions to fully ascend. You may not want to fully book Occult Brawler however! In particular, having his A2 on the higher cooldown may be better (e.g. if you’re planning on going auto on the CB).
- Frozen Banshee requires 15 Rare Books, and 10 Lesser Magic Potions, 5 Lesser Arcane Potions, 4 Greater Magic Potions, and 3 Greater Arcane Potions to fully ascend. Frozen Banshee needs to be fully booked to be effective (particularly the cooldown on her A3).
Occult Brawler, being an Epic Champion, is clearly more expensive than Frozen Banshee. So if you have some team Counterattack (e.g. Skullcrusher) and are considering which of these two to build out for your Clan Boss team, we would recommend Frozen Banshee. If you don’t care about the upgrade costs, then we’d go with Occult Brawler unless you have a Vizier to go along with your CB team.
