Raid Shadow Legends Champion Gear Guide

November 14, 2025 Posted by Inteleria Guides

Gearing champions correctly is crucial in Raid: Shadow Legends – “gear is king” for maximizing performance. With 60+ artifact sets and 5 accessory sets available, it can be hard to know which gear to prioritize. This guide covers gear basics, set overviews, tier rankings (2025), role-specific recommendations, and endgame strategies, with examples from top champions.

How Gear Works in Raid Shadow Legends

Raid features two equipment categories: artifact (equipment) sets and accessory sets. Each champion can equip six artifacts (Weapon, Helmet, Shield, Gauntlets, Chestplate, Boots) and three accessories (Ring, Amulet, Banner). Weapons always grant ATK, Helmets HP, and Shields DEF as their fixed main stats; Boots, Gauntlets, and Chestplates have variable main stats (HP%, ATK%, DEF%, etc). Accessories provide flat stats: Rings give flat HP/ATK/DEF, Amulets grant Resistance or Crit Damage.

All gear has main stats (fixed by slot) and up to four random substats that grow with gear rarity. Higher rarity gear starts with more substats. When leveling an artifact (up to level 16), it gains or upgrades substats at fixed intervals. For example, a Legendary artifact starts with 4 substats. Managing main and substats is key: choose gear with favorable main stats (e.g. Crit Rate on Gauntlets for damage dealers) and roll desirable substats (Speed, Crit, Accuracy, etc.) as you upgrade.

How to Get Gear (Dungeons, Clan Boss, Forge, etc.)

Raid Shadow Legends Champion Gear Guide

Players obtain gear from many sources. Dungeon Campaigns drop basic sets: Dragon’s Lair yields Speed, Accuracy, Lifesteal, Destroy sets; Fire Knight’s Castle yields Shield, Stun, Savage, Shield; Ice Golem’s Peak yields Defense, Crit Rate, etc. For example, the Speed set (+12% SPD) is farmable in Dragon’s Lair, and Lifesteal (heal 30% of damage) comes from higher Dragon levels.

In mid-to-late game, focus shifts to high-end content. The Clan Boss/Demon Lord drops 2-piece sets Immortal (HP% + 15% HP per turn) and Cruel (Offense+Savage mix with +5% Ignore DEF). Immortal is critical for HP-based champions’ survivability, and Cruel boosts damage vs. high-DEF enemies. The Hydra Clan Boss yields mythic gear: the Stoneskin set (makes wearer nearly immune to damage, debuffs, and TM reduction) and Protection (shields and buff-scaling). The Forge Pass allows crafting special sets like Perception offer unique gear.

Generally, once in mid/late game, farm priorities are Hydra (for Stoneskin/Protection), Clan Boss . Old dungeon sets (Life, Offense, Defense, etc.) “have aged out” and are no longer worth farming. Always aim your farming at endgame sets from Hydra, Clan Boss, Doom Tower, and Fire Knight.

Gear Sets Overview and Best Uses

Raid’s artifact sets fall into categories by purpose. Below is a summary of top sets and their uses:

  • Offensive Sets: These boost damage output. Savage (+10% ATK + 6% Ignore DEF at 4-piece) is a staple for nukers. Lethal (Crit Rate + Ignore DEF) is a late-game upgrade to Savage. Merciless (6p: Ignore DEF+Cooldown+extra turn, 9p: more turns) is top-tier DPS for fighters needing both CDR and frequent turns. Offense (%) itself falls off late-game, so rely on sets like Savage/Lethal/Merciless along with high Crit Rate/Damage stats.
  • Defensive & Support Sets: These focus on survivability and sustain. Immortal (+15% HP + 15% healing) and Lifesteal (heal 30% of damage) provide strong self-sustain, though Lifesteal is mostly outdated by endgame. Regeneration (4p: 4% heal per turn) is excellent for solo/dungeon builds. Shield (15% chance to block 25% damage) and Resilience/Untouchable sets boost DEF/Resist against debuffs. Guardian (4p: heal+damage share) shines in Clan Boss/survival teams. For support champs, use HP%, DEF% gear with Immortal or Lifesteal to stay alive.

  • Utility & Control Sets: These provide accuracy, crowd control, or turn meter effects. Speed (+12% SPD) remains universally valuable. Perception is essential for control in CC waves. Reflex (40% CDR chance) accelerates cooldowns and pairs well with skills reset. Retaliation and Deflection (accessories) can be useful niche sets for counterplay. Always match utility sets to champion kits.
  • Niche & Endgame Sets: Specialized sets excel in certain situations. Bolster (4p: +15% shield) synergizes with shield-builders. Slayer (6p: Turn+Ignore DEF) boosts AoE nukers’ burst. Feral (9p Hydra: +Accuracy, +Polymorph Res, +Damage per Debuff) is ideal for Hydra/Chimera utility champions like Lydia. Chronophage (event set, 6p: resets skill) is great for continual taunt or revive rotations. You should avoid obsolete sets: basic Life/Offense/Defense/CritD/Accuracy and old Divine sets (except Divine Speed) are largely useless by late-game.

Gear Tier List (Updated 2025)

Current tier lists categorize artifact sets by strength in the 2025 meta. In summary:

  • SS Tier: Top-tier sets every serious player should use. These include Feral, Merciless, Pinpoint, Stonecleaver, Stoneskin, Supersonic. (E.g. Stoneskin is “best PvP gear” and Feral is an Hydra/Chimera powerhouse.)
  • S Tier: Excellent, widely-used sets. Examples: Bolster, Cruel, Defiant, Divine Speed, Guardian, Impulse, Lethal, Perception, Rebirth, Reflex, Regeneration, Retaliation, Savage, Slayer, Speed, Zeal. These cover everything from survival. (Guardian, Regeneration) to offense (Savage, Lethal) to utility (Perception, Speed).
  • A Tier: Good but situational sets. Includes Accuracy, Chronophage, Cursed, Fatal, Fortitude, Immortal, Killstoke, Protection, Relentless, Resilience, Righteous, Shield, Stalwart, Stun, Taunting, Toxic, Untouchable. Many are important (Accuracy/Immortal/Shield) but less universal than S-tier.
  • B Tier: Lower priority. e.g. Bloodthirst, Critical Damage, Curing, Deflection, Divine Life, Fury, Immunity, Instinct, Lifesteal, Resistance, Swift Parry. Usable in specific cases (Immunity for debuff immunity, Lifesteal for new players) but often outperformed by higher-tier sets.
  • C/F Tier: Generally avoid these. Life, Offense, Defense, Critical Rate, Destroy, Divine Offense/Crit Rate, Frost, etc.(“F” Tier lists Life, Offense, etc.) are considered obsolete. Life, Defense, Offense, CritD, Accuracy, Lifesteal are explicitly referred to as the “aged out” sets.

Best Gear for Each Champion Role

Gear should match a champion’s role and kit. As a rule of thumb, support champions want HP, speed, and accuracy, while attackers want Crit and ATK. The table below summarizes stat focus and recommended sets by role:

  • Attack Champions (Nukers): Prioritize ATK%, Crit Rate, Crit Damage. Top sets: Offense, Critical Rate, and even Lifesteal for sustain. Aim for ~100% Crit Rate on these champs. Savage or Lethal sets are core, and Speed/Accuracy sets help ensure they take turns and land crit-dependent effects. Example: Coldheart (rare, offense nuker) often builds with Lethal, Savage, and Cruel for damage, plus Speed/Acc sets (Perception) to ensure her debuffs land.
  • Defense Champions (Bruisers/Damage-By-DEF): Focus on DEF%, HP%, and Speed. Use Defense and Stalwart sets to boost DEF-based damage, and Speed sets so they can act. Retaliation (accessory) is a common choice on heavy tanks. Example: a defense-based champ like Gorgorab (High Elves) equips DEF%/HP% gear and often a Defense set or Immortal if he has an HP-leech ability.
  • Support Champions (Healers/Cleaners): Prioritize HP%, DEF%, Speed, and Accuracy. Key sets: Speed and Accuracy/Perception for buff/debuff timing, and Lifesteal or Immortal to heal/sustain. Ensuring debuffs land is critical (≥200–250 Accuracy is common). Example: Legendary support Raglin is often built with Speed sets to use her turn-meter skills quickly and Immortal (HP%) for healing resilience. Raglin’s recommended gear: Speed, Immortal, and even Cruel for extra strength, illustrating a support’s blend of speed and sustain.
  • Speed/Turn-Meter Control Champions: (e.g. Arbiter, High Khatun) – gear for absolute Speed. Triple Speed or Divine Speed/Supersonic sets are standard to boost speed and TM control. These champions often still need Accuracy for debuffs and HP for survival. Example: Arbiter is built with Speed gear first and foremost. In Arena, she typically runs three Speed sets (or Divine Speed combo) and may use Stoneskin or Immunity to survive hits.

How to Choose the Right Gear

Balancing Stats (Speed, Crit, Accuracy, Resistance)

Always look at a champion’s stat priorities. Support champs “prefer HP, Speed, and Accuracy,” while Attack champions need Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and ATK. As a general rule, boots with SPD are a must on almost every champion – speed is king. Try to build gear pools with triple/quad Speed substats wherever possible. Tanks and supports often take HP% or DEF% on gauntlets, chest, ring, and amulet to boost bulk. Aim for ~100% Crit Rate on damage dealers, but balance it with enough Crit Damage. Accuracy is vital for debuff champions; for boss-fighting teams (Clan Boss/Hydra) aim for 200–300 Accuracy to land key debuffs. Resist is less often chosen on gear, since there are few reliable enemy debuffs in PvE; Heroes designed to counter debuffs (like Seer/Audrian) may still use some Accuracy or Resist if needed.

Matching Gear to Champion Abilities

Examine each champion’s kit and stat scaling. If a skill scales off HP, gear HP% (Immortal set) benefits it. If damage is DEF-based, use DEF% gear and Defense/Stalwart sets. Champions reliant on debuffs or TM reduction need Accuracy and Speed (Perception/Pinpoint). For high-crit champions, use Savage/Lethal and Crit%s. For example, Coldheart’s guide stresses that sets providing Crit Rate and Crit Damage (like Lethal, Savage, Cruel) are excellent for her nuking playstyle, while Accuracy/Speed sets (Perception) are “fundamental” to land her debuffs. In short, match sets to what the champion needs to do: an AoE nuker might use Savage, a healer uses Lifesteal or Immortal, a turn-meter champion uses Speed.

Common Gearing Mistakes to Avoid

  • Neglecting Speed: Never skimp on speed. Even healers need decent speed to act quickly. Avoid placing SPD only on one piece; spread it via subs or multiple sets.
  • Overstacking One Stat: Balance is key. For example, a DPS champ with 100% Crit Rate still needs Crit Damage and ATK. Don’t chase extra CritD if you’re missing CritRate.
  • Irrelevant 4-piece Sets: Some gear bonuses are only situational. For instance, a 4-piece Accuracy set is wasted on a champion who doesn’t apply debuffs. Almost all 4-piece sets are niche and many (Offense, Life, etc.) “aren’t worth farming”. Prioritize strong 2-piece+2-piece combinations over random 4-pieces.
  • Ignoring Accessories: Accessories (rings, amulets, banners) can swing fights. Use a banner with extra Speed substats, or an Amulet with resist/dmg as needed. For example, Arbiter often runs a Speed banner to push her action order.
  • Blindingly Farming Early Sets: Once you have high-end gear, don’t waste resources on basic sets like Life, Defense, or old Divine sets. Focus upgrades on the strongest sets you have.

Endgame Gearing Strategies (Arena, Clan Boss, Hydra)

Arena Builds and Meta Gear

In the Arena, speed leads and survivability dominate. All top Arena teams start with speed boosters (Arbiter/Mikayla/High Khatun) geared for maximum SPD. Stoneskin (Hydra gear) is considered the best PvP defensive set, making a champion nearly immune to damage, debuffs, and TM manipulation. Many Arena defenses use Stoneskin 4- or 6-piece on key champs. Offensive Arena builds still focus on high speed and damage: triple Speed or Divine Speed sets on attackers, plus sometimes Immunity or Shield sets to survive enemy nukes. Even 4-piece Stoneskin can stall teams when paired with Savage for hybrid tank-nuker builds. Overall, keep champions fast and durable for Arena.

PvE and Clan Boss Setups

For PvE (campaign, faction wars) and Clan Boss, sustain is king. Clan Boss teams often stack HP% gear and healing sets. Guardian (heal+damage-share) and Regeneration (heal per turn) allow long survivability. The Cruel set (Offense+Savage) is a must for many DPS and even tanks at Clan Boss (it boosts HP% and deals ignore-DEF damage). Immortal set is common to sustain HP-based champs. Aim for Accuracy debuffs (~260 Accuracy) to land Decrease Defense/Weaken on the boss. Accordingly, priority farm for Clan Boss includes Guardian, Cruel, Immortal sets. In normal PvE, you can relax on Accuracy but still need Speed and kit synergy (e.g. Lifesteal on farmers for quick auto battles).

Hydra and Doom Tower Optimization

Hydra battles require specialized setups. For Head skills, Protection set is invaluable: it shields buffs on a tank so your teams benefit fully. Hydra often requires Polymorph mechanics, so Feral set (from Siege/Sintranos) is a Hydra-friendly set providing bonus accuracy and polymorph resistance. Equip it on utility champions (like Lydia) who apply buffs/debuffs. DPS champions at Hydra still use Savage/Lethal and high Accuracy. The Stoneskin set is not needed here due to the mechanics.

In Doom Tower and other endgame content, niche sets shine. Curses and freezes in Doom Tower mean sets like Stun and Cursed can be useful. Reflex (cooldown reduction) lets control champions act more often. Merciless and Slayer are excellent for raw damage in both DW and Forge Tower. It is important to keep a few Reflex/Stun sets for later content. Always tailor gear to the challenge: Hydra uses Hydra drops (Protection/Stoneskin), Doom Tower may prioritize sets you crafted (Reflex, maybe Pinpoint for accuracy in burn fights), and high-end dungeons often require mixed sets from various sources.

Conclusion

Gearing in Raid: Shadow Legends is complex but rewarding. By understanding gear mechanics, prioritizing top sets, and matching stats to each champion’s needs, you maximize your roster’s power. The meta evolves—Speed, Savage/Lethal, Guardian, Feral, Merciless etc. are key in 2025. Use tier lists and guides (like above) to farm smarter: target endgame drops (Hydra, Clan Boss, Doom Tower) and avoid outdated sets. With the right gear on the right champion, you’ll conquer every mode of the game.
