Bommal the Dreadhorn punishes the habits that work against many other bosses. Turn Meter reduction creates more Dreadbombs, normal debuffs trigger Bombs on your champions, and excessive buffs give Rain of Bombs more fuel. The safest clear comes from a deliberate strategy: freeze the Dreadbombs, outheal them, burst Bommal with Bomb debuffs, or use a proven solo champion.
Quick answer
The safest way to beat Bommal
Do not reduce Bommal’s Turn Meter and do not cover him with unnecessary debuffs. Bring high Resistance, strong healing or revival, and a reliable Freeze champion for the Dreadbombs. Place Vogoth in the final team position so his passive healing resolves after the team takes AoE damage.
If your account has strong Bomb champions, Gnishak Verminlord , Gaius the Gleeful, and Warmother can exploit Bommal’s increased damage from Bomb debuffs. If a conventional team cannot survive, Lady Annabelle is one of the most practical solo options.
Choose one plan before building: Freeze plus sustain, Bomb burst, or solo survival. Mixing several incomplete strategies usually creates more Bombs without enough healing or damage to finish the fight.
Boss mechanics
Why Bommal the Dreadhorn is so dangerous
Bommal appears in the third Doom Tower rotation and also appears in selected Cursed City stages. His kit is built around normal Bomb debuffs and Dreadbombs. The normal Bombs cannot be blocked or removed after they are placed. Dreadbombs cannot be killed and explode when their turns arrive.
| Mechanic | What it does | How to answer it |
|---|---|---|
| Ruinous Crush | Attacks all enemies, shortens Bomb countdowns by one turn, and instantly activates HP Burn on your champions. | Use constant healing and avoid letting several Bombs accumulate on the same champion. |
| Magma Flood | Places HP Burn on the entire team. HP Burn deals more damage to a champion for every Bomb already on that champion. | High Resistance can reduce the number of effects that land. Do not depend on ordinary cleansing to remove Bommal’s unremovable Bombs. |
| Rain of Bombs | Attempts to remove all buffs, attacks, and places one Bomb plus an additional Bomb for every buff removed. | Limit unnecessary buffs. Resistance helps champions keep their buffs and prevents the skill from converting as many removed buffs into extra Bombs. |
| Dread Minions | Gives Bommal an unremovable Increase ATK buff, summons two Dreadbombs, and grants an Extra Turn. | Prepare healing before the summon and Freeze the Dreadbombs before they take their turns. |
| Pressure Wave | Every non-Bomb debuff placed on Bommal causes him to place an unremovable Bomb on that champion. A detonating Bomb can Stun the rest of the team. | Use only essential debuffs. Bomb debuffs are the important exception and do not trigger this retaliation. |
| Turn Meter retaliation | Bommal summons another Dreadbomb whenever his Turn Meter is decreased. Turn Meter reduction against him is only 50% effective. | Disable Turn Meter reduction skills in the team preset and avoid masteries or passives that reduce his Turn Meter. |
| Dreadbomb detonation | An unfrozen Dreadbomb deals pure damage equal to 40% of each champion’s MAX HP and ignores Shield. Freeze reduces this to 20%. | Freeze each Dreadbomb or bring enough healing and revival to recover from consecutive explosions. |
Do not place HP Burn on a Dreadbomb. Dreadbombs are vulnerable to Freeze and HP Burn, but every HP Burn tick fills their Turn Meter by 20%, making them explode sooner.
Battle plan
How to beat Dreadhorn step by step
Disable dangerous skills
Turn off Turn Meter reduction and unnecessary debuffs before the run. Check A1 skills and passive effects too—not only obvious active skills.
Reach Bommal in control
Use presets so the team does not waste revival, emergency healing, or Freeze skills on the second wave. Manual control is safer during the first test run.
Do not overprotect
Every buff removed by Rain of Bombs becomes another Bomb. Use only the buffs that provide more survival than the extra Bombs will cost.
Freeze before detonation
Target the Dreadbombs with reliable Freeze. They cannot be killed, but Freeze cuts their pure-damage explosion from 40% to 20% of each champion’s MAX HP.
Heal after each blast
Speed-tune healers so the team recovers between explosions. Vogoth should normally occupy the last team slot to maximize his passive healing after AoE damage.
Use safe damage
Bomb debuffs are ideal because Bommal takes 200% more damage from them. Otherwise, use direct damage and Warmaster while keeping normal debuffs to a minimum.
Three viable approaches
Freeze, Bomb damage, or solo survival
Freeze and sustain
Use one or two accurate Freeze champions, a reviver, and powerful healing. This is the most conventional approach and works well when the entire team is built with enough Speed and Resistance.
- Reliable Freeze reduces Dreadbomb damage by half.
- Vogoth and Master Butcher can turn incoming damage into recovery.
- Revival gives protection against a failed Freeze attempt.
Bomb burst
Bommal receives 200% more damage from Bomb debuffs. A strong Gnishak, Gaius, or Warmother can shorten the fight before repeated Dreadbomb cycles overwhelm the team.
- Build the Bomber with high ATK and sufficient Accuracy.
- Bombs do not activate Pressure Wave retaliation.
- The support core must still survive Bommal’s opening turns.
Solo survival
Lady Annabelle and several specialist alternatives can outheal the fight in suitable regeneration gear. This approach is slower but avoids keeping five champions alive through every explosion.
- Use an A1-only preset when the strategy requires it.
- High HP, Speed, and reliable self-healing are essential.
- Exact requirements rise sharply on higher Hard floors.
Champion selection
Best champions for Bommal the Dreadhorn
Build around the function your strategy needs, not a generic tier list. Use the Inteleria Doom Tower ratings to compare other champions already available in your roster.
| Champion | Main role | Why the champion works |
|---|---|---|
| Lady Annabelle | Solo survival | Her A1 heals her, while The Red Lady restores 50% MAX HP whenever an ally or enemy dies. Each Dreadbomb death can therefore refill a large part of her health. |
| Gnishak Verminlord | Bomb damage | Places multiple high-damage Bombs, including doubled Bomb damage against high-MAX-HP targets. Bommal’s Bomb vulnerability makes Gnishak one of the strongest fast-clear options. |
| Gaius the Gleeful | Bomb damage | Places multiple Bombs and can help detonate them quickly. He needs high ATK and enough Accuracy for the selected floor. |
| Warmother | Bomb damage | Brings Bomb placement and detonation control. She is useful when the team can keep her alive long enough to complete the Bomb cycle. |
| Vogoth | Passive healing | Heals allies for part of the damage he receives. Place him last in the team order so his passive resolves after other champions take the AoE hit. |
| Master Butcher | Recovery | His passive can heal allies when he is hit and can restore the team after he dies. He is a useful Rare option in Dreadbomb sustain teams. |
| Yakarl the Scourge | Freeze | A Clan Shop champion with reliable Freeze access. Against Bommal, direct Freeze toward the Dreadbombs—not the boss. |
| Gory | Freeze | Provides repeated Freeze attempts and is a practical Epic specialist for reducing Dreadbomb explosion damage. |
| Tormin the Cold | Freeze / control | Can apply Freeze frequently enough to protect a sustain team, while also helping control the waves before the boss. |
| Duchess Lilitu or Rector Drath | Revive / survival | Revival and healing make failed Freeze cycles less punishing. Avoid using more buffs than the team genuinely needs. |
| Samar Gemcursed | Solo specialist | His passive can reduce incoming damage and place Block Damage when he falls low, enabling specialist solo builds with demanding gear. |
| Templar or Crimson Helm | Manual solo specialist | Precisely timed Block Damage or Revive on Death can survive Dreadbomb explosions. These builds are speed-sensitive and may require manual play. |
Team examples
Best Dreadhorn team templates
These are role-based templates. Replace a champion only with someone who performs the same job, then adjust Speed, Accuracy, Resistance, HP, and turn order for the exact floor.
Rector Drath · Gory or Yakarl · Master Butcher · damage dealer · Vogoth in the final slot
Freeze reduces Dreadbomb damage, Rector supplies healing and revival, and the two passive healers help the team recover after AoE attacks. Keep nonessential debuffs disabled.
Duchess Lilitu · Tormin the Cold · Yakarl or Gory · Master Butcher · Vogoth in the final slot
This composition prioritizes consistency rather than speed. Two sources of Freeze protect against resistance or timing failures, while revival and passive healing stabilize consecutive explosions.
Gnishak Verminlord · Gaius the Gleeful or Warmother · reviver · healer · Vogoth
The Bomb champions exploit Bommal’s 200% increased Bomb damage. The remaining slots keep them alive long enough to place and detonate the Bombs. Avoid supports whose default skills reduce Turn Meter.
Lady Annabelle · optional Sun Wukong · three wave-clearing champions expected to die at the boss
Once the other champions die, Annabelle sustains herself through her A1, regeneration gear, and the heal triggered whenever a Dreadbomb dies. Sun Wukong can repeatedly revive and die, generating additional passive healing.
Solo strategy
How the Lady Annabelle solo works
Why she survives
Lady Annabelle heals herself with both hits of her A1. More importantly, her passive heals her by 50% of MAX HP whenever an ally or enemy dies. Dreadbombs count as enemies when they detonate, so their deaths repeatedly activate the passive.
The strategy usually sends a wave-clearing team to the boss, allows the other champions to die, and leaves Annabelle to finish the fight. Sun Wukong is a useful optional partner because his repeated self-revival creates extra passive-heal triggers when he dies again.
How to build the run
- Use Regeneration plus Immortal or another sustain-focused combination.
- Prioritize Speed, HP, DEF, and enough Resistance for the chosen floor.
- Use an A1-only preset at the boss to avoid unnecessary debuffs and buffs.
- Do not use a Bloodshield accessory: Dreadbomb damage ignores Shield, while the extra buff can interact badly with Rain of Bombs.
- Test on manual before trusting Auto, especially on Hard floor 90.
Solo builds are stat checks, not guaranteed recipes. A setup that clears Normal or Hard floor 10 may fail on Hard floor 90 even with the same sets and masteries.
Build priorities
Stats and gear for a reliable clear
Stats
- Speed: healers and Freeze champions must take turns before Dreadbombs detonate.
- Resistance: helps resist buff removal and other effects, reducing pressure from Rain of Bombs.
- HP and DEF: support champions need enough effective health to survive Bommal’s regular attacks as well as explosions.
- Accuracy: required for Freeze on Dreadbombs and Bomb placement on Bommal.
- ATK: the primary damage stat for Bomb champions because Bomb damage scales from ATK.
Useful sets
- Regeneration: central to many Lady Annabelle, Samar, Burangiri, and Templar solo builds.
- Immortal: adds HP and passive healing to a solo or sustain build.
- Perception: useful for Freeze champions and Bomb damage dealers who need Accuracy and Speed.
- Resistance: supports the champions responsible for healing, revival, and the run’s core rotation.
- Defiant or Guardian: can support conventional teams, but confirm that the complete build still has enough Speed and Resistance.

There is no single universal stat threshold. Bommal appears on multiple Normal and Hard floors, and every higher stage increases the Accuracy, Resistance, Speed, and damage requirements.
Troubleshooting
Common reasons Bommal teams fail
Reducing Turn Meter
Every reduction summons another Dreadbomb. Even a useful champion can ruin the run through an A1, passive, or mastery that was not disabled.
Placing too many debuffs
Every non-Bomb debuff placed on Bommal gives the caster an unremovable Bomb. Limit the boss to effects the strategy truly needs.
Using too many buffs
Rain of Bombs places an extra Bomb for each buff it removes. Large buff stacks can turn one dangerous attack into a complete team wipe.
Trying to cleanse Bombs
Bommal’s Bombs cannot be blocked or removed after placement. Build to resist the setup, limit extra Bombs, or survive the detonation.
Applying HP Burn to Dreadbombs
HP Burn fills a Dreadbomb’s Turn Meter whenever it deals damage, causing an earlier explosion. Use Freeze instead.
Wrong Vogoth position
Put Vogoth in the final team slot so his passive healing resolves after the other champions take AoE damage. Team order can decide whether they survive.
Why farm this boss
Bommal rewards
After the first clear, Bommal stages can be farmed with Silver Keys. The boss drops Dreadhorn Plates used in the Forge to craft the Fortitude Artifact Set.
Fortitude is a two-piece set that provides 40 Resistance and 10% DEF. Because it requires only two pieces, multiple Fortitude sets can be combined on high-Resistance supports and solo champions.
Frequently asked questions
Bommal the Dreadhorn FAQ
Should I reduce Bommal’s Turn Meter?
No. Every time Bommal’s Turn Meter is decreased, he summons another Dreadbomb. Disable Turn Meter reduction skills, passives, and presets for this fight.
Can I remove Bommal’s Bomb debuffs?
No. The Bombs placed by Bommal’s key skills cannot be blocked or removed. The team must limit how many Bombs are created and then survive or avoid their detonation.
How do I stop Dreadbombs?
Dreadbombs cannot be killed normally. Freeze them before their turns to reduce their pure-damage explosion from 40% to 20% of each champion’s MAX HP.
Why are Bomb champions good against Bommal?
Bommal takes 200% more damage from Bomb debuffs. Bombs are also the exception to his Pressure Wave retaliation, so they do not cause him to place a Bomb back on the caster.
Can Lady Annabelle solo Bommal?
Yes. Lady Annabelle can solo multiple Bommal stages in strong sustain gear because her A1 heals her and her passive restores 50% MAX HP whenever a Dreadbomb or ally dies. Higher Hard floors require much stronger stats.
Does Shield protect against Dreadbomb damage?
No. Dreadbomb detonation ignores Shield buffs. Freeze, healing, revival, damage reduction from suitable skills, and specialist solo mechanics are more relevant.
